UK Growth & Operations Manager (32-40 hrs / week)

Help us build the future of Slim Academy in the UK!

Location: United Kingdom | Possible to work remotely
Hours / week: 32-40

An exciting opportunity to build something big

What if you could help build a business from the ground up, without having to start from scratch?

At Slim Academy, we have spent over 30 years helping university students study smarter and achieve better results. Today, more than 20,000 students use our study materials every year, and we have become a leading provider of study support in the Netherlands.

Now, we're bringing that success to the United Kingdom.

We've made our first steps into the UK market, offering summaries, practice questions and flashcards to medical students at several universities. But we're only getting started.

Our ambition?

We want to grow Slim Academy to 10,000 UK customers within the next three years. And we're looking for someone who wants to help make that happen.

Your role: Build, grow and lead

As our UK Growth & Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of developing Slim Academy across the United Kingdom.

This isn't a traditional management role where everything has already been figured out. You'll be joining us at an early stage, with the opportunity to shape how we operate, expand our reach and build our UK team.

You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. One day, you might be exploring opportunities at a new university. The next, you could be recruiting student teams, developing a promotional campaign or improving how we create our study materials.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Expand our reach: Identify opportunities at new universities, particularly medical schools, and introduce new degree programmes at universities where we're already active.

  • Drive growth: Develop and execute creative marketing and promotional activities, build relationships with student communities and increase brand awareness.

  • Build your team: Recruit, coordinate and lead local student teams responsible for producing study materials, quality control and campus promotion.

  • Develop the organisation: Establish efficient processes and a scalable UK structure that can support our ambitious growth plans.

  • Take ownership: Monitor performance, identify opportunities, solve problems and continuously improve how we work.

You'll have considerable freedom to develop your own ideas and turn them into results.

You're not starting from zero

Although our UK operation is still small, Slim Academy is already an established business in the Netherlands.

That means you'll benefit from years of experience, proven processes, existing study platforms and a team of experienced colleagues.

Our central organisation takes care of all IT and technology development. Other functions, such as finance and customer support, can also be handled centrally.

This allows you to focus on what matters most: growing the UK business and building a successful local organisation.

You'll report directly to our CEO, with weekly one-to-one coaching and a monthly in-person meeting in the UK or the Netherlands.

You'll receive guidance, support and the freedom to make a real difference.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who's excited by the idea of building and growing a business.

You might already have experience in business development, marketing, operations or team management. Or perhaps you're an ambitious professional looking for an opportunity to take on much greater responsibility.

We're more interested in your mindset, abilities and potential than in a particular degree or number of years of experience.

You'll probably enjoy this role if you're proactive, organised, commercially minded and comfortable taking the initiative. You like working with people, can turn ideas into action and don't mind getting your hands dirty when something needs to get done.

An understanding of university life and the UK student market would certainly help. Above all, we're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership and wants to achieve something meaningful.

Don't tick every box? Apply anyway. We're interested in what you can bring to the role.

What can you expect from us?

  • A genuine opportunity to make an impact. You'll play a central role in building Slim Academy in a new market, with the opportunity to grow your responsibilities alongside the business.

  • Freedom and ownership. We believe in giving people the space to develop ideas, make decisions and take responsibility for results.

  • Direct access to the CEO. You'll work closely with the person leading the wider organisation, receiving regular coaching, feedback and support.

  • The best of both worlds. Experience the excitement of building a start-up, backed by the resources, technology and experience of an established company.

  • A flexible and entrepreneurial environment. We value initiative, practical thinking and results over unnecessary bureaucracy.

  • A role that grows with you. As the UK business expands, so will the opportunities to develop your career and leadership responsibilities.

And, of course, a competitive remuneration package that reflects your experience and the responsibilities of the role.

Ready to build something?

We're not looking for someone to simply maintain an existing operation.

We're looking for someone who sees an opportunity, gets excited about the possibilities and wants to help turn an ambitious growth plan into reality.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply with your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short introduction explaining why this opportunity appeals to you. Contact us on jobs@slimacademy.co.uk.

No lengthy cover letter required. We're much more interested in your motivation, ideas and potential.
